Austin and Ally is about an extroverted singer and instrumentalist Austin Moon, who is constantly getting into trouble; and serious and talented songwriter Ally Dawson, who can sing but has an extreme case of stage fright. The two agree to work together, while struggling to keep Austin's newfound fame and profit from it, with the help of Trish and Dez, while all four continue to keep up with their high school and everyday lives.

Chyna Parks (China Anne McClain) is a 13 year old music prodigy who transfers to the local high school's ANT, Advanced Natural Talents, program. Once she gets there she meets some of the other ANTs, Olive (Seirra McCormick) who has an amazing memory, Fletcher (Jake Short) who is an art prodigy and Angus (Aedin Mincks) who is a technology genius. All of the other ANTs are happy to have Chyna there but her brother Cameron (Carlon Jeffery) is afraid Chyna will embarrass him. Lexi (Stephanie Scott), the school's "it" girl, is also not happy Chyna is there because she thinks that Chyna might overshine her.

Chyna Parks (China Anne McClain)-a musical prodigy, who at eleven can play more instruments than most people can name. Never afraid of a challenge, she sees high school as an exciting place. Unfortunately, she has to drag Olive and Fletcher out of their shells so she can experience it.
Olive Doyle (Serria McCormik)- a human computer. Thanks to her eidetic memory, everything she's ever read, heard, or seen is permanently etched in her brain. She is afraid of the older kids at school and often shares "interesting factoids" with her friends.
Fletcher Quimby (Jake Short)- an artistic genius, gifted in all media - painting, sculpture, drawing, you name it. He falls for Chyna the first moment he sees her, though has trouble keeping his crush a secret when he's constantly immortalizing her in his art. Violet is deeply in love with him but Fletcher doesn't like her.
Lexi Reed (Stefanie Scott)- is Chyna's biggest rival at school and hates the fact that Chyna exists. She is the school's "it" girl and loves the spotlight. She is a cheerleader and is super popular and she thinks that she is the prettiest person alive.
Cameron Parks (Carlon Jeffery)-Chyna's older brother and spends a lot of time in her shadow. He tries to keep his distance from Chyna because he thinks she will embarrass him at school. He will help her out when she is in need though, and Chyna will do the same for him.
